How Red Light Therapy Works

What is Light Therapy?

Light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation, involves exposing the body to specific wavelengths of visible or near-infrared light. Each wavelength interacts with the body in different ways. All are non-invasive, gentle, and do not produce heat. Our devices deliver light at a targeted power density (irradiance), measured in milliwatts per square centimetre (mW/cm²), enabling effective energy exposure in short wellness sessions.

Why These Wavelengths?

The wavelengths used in our devices are carefully selected for their unique interaction with skin and tissue:

  • 460nm (Blue Light) – Often used to help reduce surface blemishes by targeting acne-causing bacteria.
  • 520nm (Green Light) – May support visibly calm skin and a more even tone by addressing pigmentation.
  • 630nm (Red Light) – Interacts at the surface and is explored for its potential to enhance collagen and texture.
  • 850nm (Near-Infrared) – Penetrates deeper layers, supporting cellular energy and recovery.

These wavelengths have been explored in peer-reviewed journals including Photomedicine and Laser Surgery, Nature Scientific Reports, and Lasers in Medical Science for their potential role in supporting biological processes at a cellular level.
